A one-day tech doc conference in Manchester, England: March
The UK chapter of STC are organising a one-day technical documentation
conference in Manchester, England on Saturday March 12th 2005. There
will be a couple of sessions that touch on XML documentation. Full

Here`s a resume of the programme:
09:00 - Arrival, and welcome coffee
09:30 - Welcome by Tina Hoffmann, president of the UK chapter of the STC
09:45 - Simon Elmes, Principal Technical Author at Fujitsu
Telecommunications Europe Ltd, will be sharing his experience of using
FrameMaker and WebWorks to produce user guides and online help from a
single source file.
11:00 - Coffee
11:30 - Roel Seegers from Tedopres International, giving us all valuable
insights into the correct use of Simplified English in technical
communication.
12:30 - Lunch (A buffet lunch will be provided for delegates, with
vegetarian options)
14:00 - Nick Rosenthal, Managing Director of Salford Translations Ltd,
will giving a presentation on "Managing graphics in multilingual
documentation", or how to stay sane whilst managing a workflow involving
a 90-page manual with 50 different localisable graphics, going into ten
to fifteen languages.
15:00 - Coffee
15:30 - Nadir Moubarrid from Pass Engineering in Bonn (producers of the
highly respected software localisation tool Passolo) will be flying in
from Germany to give us a cutting-edge overview of the use of XML-based
documentation, including recommended localisation approaches and tools.
16:30 - Prize draw and social reception
17:15 - Conference ends
There will be a social event in the evening for those delegates who are
able to stay on (probably a drink, before ambling on to one of
Manchester`s splendid eateries).
