I`ve inherited a website to revise written in coldfusion about 3.5
years ago. The strangest thing is happening, however, as the root
directory of this website houses some files: application.cfm,
index.html, home.html, and menu.html.
The index.html file contains a frameset, with home.html at the top,
and menu.html at the bottom. Home.html does not reference any other
pages. Menu.html, however, links to users.cfm, orders.cfm, etc.
Anytime I click on users.cfm, however, the application.cfm page pops
up! I`ve combed all the files, and not once is there a reference to
application.cfm. The application.cfm file links to 3 other files:
login.cfm, loginaction.cfm, and logout.cfm. Its obvious that this page
is forced to authenticate a user, but how in the heck is it done?
Does anyone have any ideas how this application.cfm page is
instantiated automatically without a reference to it? Thanks,

Hi There
As a default, the application.cfm file is read automatically before every page is loaded. This is written in as part of the programming language. I`m not sure why it does it, only that it does do it and can come in handy a lot of the time.
hope this helps,
Nate

Does anyone have experience with this CFC when it comes to limiting fonts? I`m
stuck.
Many thanks.

Application.cfm is automatically included in ANY coldfusion page.
Its main purpose is for setting sessions and things like you are experiencing.
just think of it as an invisible include at the top of every .cfm page.
Good luck!
