Converting MS Word document using php

Converting MS Word document using php
Hi Friends,
I want to convert ms word document (.doc) using PHP (to text) . I know how to do
that for Excel spreadsheets(.xls) ie. via a class.
I searched for it but could only found conversion for systems having Windows on
it.
Is it possible for systems ie. servers having Linux as the application i intend
to develop should run on all servers.
Any help will be appreciated.
