Dynamically Creating Tables on the Fly
I am working on creating a little sub app to dynamically create
tables & fields (and alter tables to add new fields) via Cold Fusion
with Access. I want to do this because accessing the datasource
after first implementation will be problematic, but I know that a
need for new tables and fields will exist.
I haven`t found a whole lot of info on this. Of course, I know how
to create a table & fields in a basic sense, but where I am a little
lost is whether or not there is a way to specify some of the various
subvariables for data types within Access.
For example, if you create a text field in Access, it defaults to 50
chars wide, although there is a max of 255 chars for that field
type. So, is there a way to specify a different char max length
when you create that field in a table via a web/sql interface? Is
there a way to determine whether the field can be null or not?
You all have any idea where I could find this info (or do you know
yourselves)?
Thanks!
Jen
