Finding Data Types
Hi. Do any of you know of a way to query a table and find out which
data type is related to which field name?

That depends on what the database system used is.

ISTR looking into this a while back, and finding that it`s quite hard.
There`s no query you can do on the database that will return the
meta-data you`re after. What I found was some MS-specific methods,
invoking COM or something like it. Too complicated for me at the time,
and browser-specific too. Could be worth another Google, though, just
because I found it too complex then doesn`t mean a lot :)

All I found was some coding using getcolumntype and getcolumntypename,
but I couldn`t get it to work.
Argh.
Thanks for your response Jane!

It just occurred to me that the last time I looked into this, it was
probably via this group. So I searched the archives.
The thread starts here
