More detailed delphiX site
Hi,<br><br>I`m a DelphiX newbie. And trying find
out tutorials/examples from web.<br><br>Do you know
any webpage/site contains "really" detailed
informations/tutorials about DelphiX ? (accept Hori`s page)<br><br>I
couldn`t be able to find a page like that Czech <br>page

is the first page that I saw showing the examples
related Alphablending, .DrawAdd , .DrawSub methods.
<br>But it`s in Czech. <br><br>Additionally there are a
lot of French pages on the net. <br><br>But I want
English pages. And a little bit more information like on

mainly would like to see a few "DX3D" examples.<br>and I
want to learn some quick and dirty things/tips.
<br><br>For example <br>"When should i use "DXPaintBox"
?<br>"What kind of thing can i do with AlphaBlending
feature?"<br>"What should i do to write a Plasma Effect "<br><br>I
want learn the tricks like "using
Sinus/cosinus/tangent Tables instead of direct using sin(),cos(),tan()
function"<br><br>Ofcourse all of use can understand the components on
DelphiX tab on our Delphi by reading DelphiX Help File.
<br><br>But i prefer somebody to give a litte light to use
these components in a game.<br><br>I need those kind of
information.<br><br>How can I put the things together ? This is my main

heya. okey.. some of your q`s answered in no
particular order.<br>I use DXPaintBox for more static
imaging, maybe suited to a image editing program it would
be.<br>To write a plasma effect is not a delphi x specific
question, you could either use prerendered frames grabbed
from another program (hehe, but probably not) or just
do a quick search on the web and see what sort of
generic code you can find and modify to your own
ends.<br>Alpha Blending refers to overlaying an image or shape
onto a background, but not at full opacity,
semiopaque, semitransparent,
slightly-see-through-like-cellophane... whatever. use it for interfaces, so they
are not
blocking view of the game area totally, as you can see
through them slightly. Use them for explosion effects,
magic effects, smoke etc black fadeouts and fadeins can
make your game look a bit smoother and flowing from
one section to another, eg menu screen to new
game...<br>delphix has built in lookup tables for sin and cos, or
you could redo them.<br>sin256[] & cos256[] (ok guys,
this is a lookup table, from memory it is stored in an
array not a function so it should be [], if not try the
function access ().<br>remember you will have to either
work all in 256 degrees, or write a function to
convert from 360 to 256.<br>to put together... hmmm...
the things i use for certain in any 2d game
are:<br>dxdraw (the main canvas, fullscreen
whatever)<br>dximagelist (what i store my images / imagestrips in,
including effect images for alphablending etc)<br>dxtimer
(finer resolution than the system timers and threaded i
believe?)<br><br>the functions:<br>the alpha blending functions, and
the draw functions of the image list<br>sin and
cos<br>and i think thats about it. (oh yea, and the rotate
function works fine if you dont want to render 128 or 64
or 32 or 16 frames for a rotated graphic hehe, not
too much distortion)<br>wish list: automatic
antialiasing & drop shadows<br>(theres an idea, im going to do
the drop shadow thing, i could use that :)<br>correct
anything here if it is wrong please.<br>peace.
