I have some questions - directed only at some on the lists.
Firstly, I don`t expect this one to get past the modertors.
(a) How do I tell me left foor from my right foot ?
(b) How do I tie my shoelaces ?
(c) How do I know how much toilet roll to use ?
(d) How do I know how high "too" high is ?
Regards
rofl, rofl, rofl, rofl, hahahahaha, lol, lol, giggle , snigger, p,p,p,p.
Steve.

While I think it is funny I do not appreciate the undercurrents of the
joke; because it is PERFECTLY OK TO ASK REALLY BEGINNER QUESTIAONS here. If
you are burned out asking beginning questions there are tons of more
complex lists with Tough Questions to hang out @
=> The Escalation Forum @
http://www.asp.net/Forums/ShowForum.aspx?tabindex=1&ForumID=71
with tons of tough and unresolved questions
=> [StumpTheAspElite] @
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stumptheaspelite/
=> http://www.AspFriends.com specialized lists
=> http://Discuss.develop.com which is nothing but tough questions
Take a break from here and come back when you are willing to tolerate the
mix of beginning and tough questions but
=> Beginners or just experts with simple a** questions are 100% welcome to
post here <=
and I know grizzled veterans may get tired of it, but stories like:

indicate why we need to be patient with newbies. They are the next
grizzled veterans in the long term.

I don`t need or want asp forums, indeed any forums ... and the alliance is

bad if their blinking system was better thought through.

I am happy to have you here (very much so) but this list will always have
tons of beginner questions and it is not cool to blast the people or type
of questions.
In my quest for knowledge I am on 100s of competing lists and spend time on
the newsgroups and forums as well. They have some tough questions that get
me thinking..... You don`t have to quit here to have fun with the cha
My real point is that you should chill out, and either
a. don`t answer
or
b. feed beginners here
or
c. Just delete the newbie posts that drive you crazy
and look for the tough questions that give you more challenges on those
places if you want to stretch your brain but next time you want to blow off
steam do it at an ex-girlfriend or a politician - but don`t look for jelly
in a peanut butter jar and gripe when you don`t find it, and vent
sarcastically on those around you when find a ton of peanut butter instead.

I have a page that the user enters information about an employee
Last Name
First Name, etc.
I want to pass these values to the next page where the user enters
pay grade, salary, etc.
I then want to write the record to the database. I don`t know how
to do this?
thanks

http://www.learnasp.com/learn/hidden.asp
shows 1 way
http://www.learnasp.com/learn/cookies.asp
shows another
http://www.learnasp.com/learn/statesessions.asp
shows a 3rd way.
These are easy examples and are identical except the way they pass the data.

"save this as a.asp"
<form action="process.asp" method="post">
first name, last name ("User input should be here")
</form>
the process.asp file should look like this...
fname = request.form("objName")
lname = request.form("objName")
make sure you replace single quote in fname and lname
before saving to db. otherwise, db will reject.
i hope this help.
