October STC Conference in London - 13/14 October - bookings
The STC UK web site at http://www.stcuk.org/R2conf/ now contains details
of our exciting line-up of speakers for the STC Conference that we are
organising in London on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 October 2006. There is
also an online booking form, with early-bird booking discounts for STC
members.
We have a range of top-level speakers. Leading names such as Sarah
O`Keefe analysing the business case for XML implementation, Ian Larner
of IBM telling us about DITA, James Lawrence of McAfee telling how his
tech authoring team work as a business unit, Patrick Hoffmann examining
the Return on Investment aspects of usability and information design,
and we even have the inside track on the new Windows Vista operating
system.......
The conference theme is "Making Cents of Making Sense: Technical
Communications and Business". This is going to be a hard-hitting
conference that will help YOU deliver good value for money within your

OpenDocument Format (ODF) is the XML tag set used by OpenOffice.org
2.0 and KOffice version 1.5. It is an XML tag set for business
documents such as word processing, spread sheet, and presentation
documents.
OASIS Open Document Format may become the most widely deployed XML
tag set. Will you be ready? Do you want to learn how ODF works? How
to create and manipulate ODF documents?
A tutorial on the technical aspects of ODF will be presented at
Extreme Markup Languages in Montreal this August. For details on the
