OT - Does asp.net index with search engines slower than PHP?
All,
I recently recevied an email from a client with the following message:

I had an independent SEO analysis done on the site.
They suggested that we change to a php based site, currently we are asp.
Apparently php uses less code which allows faster loading. Also, php indexes
better in directories.

Is this true? Does PHP index better with search engines than asp.net?
As far as loading time, I would assume it has more to do with how the the site
is coded than the actual language itself. But since I`m years removed from php,
I just don`t know.

?? They both ultimately render html to the browser. How the site shows up in
directories is more a function of its nature and layout.
Would say I have no knowledge of speed differences, but again I would think
other factors (server hardware, load, site content), not too mention how
well the code is written, would have more effect than the underlying
programming language.
Sounds like some boiler plate "free" analysis. There are a number of entries
that can be googled on PHP vs ASP that state similar beliefs seem to date
from the early part of this century.

The analysis has no credibility because of the statement:
"php indexes better in directories"
Since asp / asp.net / php / jsp whatever just produces HTML on the
client its the HTML the programmer produces that can be more directly
friendly or not.
They are getting biased advice and incorrect advice.
PHP runs on more platforms than ASP -- that would be an objective
reason to switch if one had or wanted to run Unix servers. But the
reasons cited are not anything to do with PHP`s strengths vs. ASP.
