Re: Digest Number 1242
Welcome to the group, Kate. I`m a Mac user in my nonprofessional time,
and I`ve demo`ed Oxygen but not used it a great deal. However, I don`t
think Mac browsers or Oxygen are the reasons you can`t open your .jsp
pages.

JSP stands for Java Server Pages (http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/). It
is a server-side technology, meaning that the special JSP code in your
pages is intended to be processed on the server, which then delivers an
HTML-compliant document to a browser with the interpreted results of the
JSP code in the returned document.

In order to view the pages in a browser, you need to have access to a
JSP server from which to request them. Apache Tomcat is one such product
(http://tomcat.apache.org/). You would then have to access the pages via
the HTTP protocol, rather than the file:/// protocol that`s used to open
local files on your computer. You can run a JSP server on the Mac,
especially since the MacOS is essentially Unix behind the scenes, but it
will take a little work. I`ve never actually done it, so for details
I`ll have to refer you to the Tomcat website.

If you`re working with a development team that works with JSP, they
probably have a JSP server set up for testing, so maybe you can work
with them to post your pages on their server and access them there
instead.

Best regards,

Tom Weimer

Subject: Any Mac / Oxygen users out there?

Hello,

New to this group... hoping for a place to go for help.

I`m on a Mac PowerBook G4, thus, all my browsers are mac.

Editing my DocBook xml document in Oxygen 6.2

I`m using the docbook.xsl stylesheet that came w/ Oxygen.

Transformations are successful. BUT - I`ve set oxygen to output .jsp
pages (instead of just html).
I need to output .jsp pages because I have a header and footer appended,
that contain code that need that page extension. (having header /
footer trouble too. Only shows on opening page. Need it on all pages.)

None of my browsers know what to do w/ .jsp pages.
